My Story

Anne Bakar is President and CEO of Telecare Corporation, a leading behavioral health care provider dedicated to recovery for 59 years. She assumed leadership in 1987 after her father's passing, growing the company from five programs in California to 173 across five states, with $700 million in revenue and 5,600 employees. Her success stems from fostering a culture of excellence, strong health plan partnerships, and employee recognition. Under her leadership, Telecare has pioneered innovative services, including a recovery-oriented clinical system, an independent physician services organization, a national "pay for success" program, and an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). She is a strong advocate for equity, funding, and the rights of those served. Beyond Telecare, Anne serves on the Steinberg Public Policy Institute board and has held leadership roles with the Kennedy Satcher Center for Mental Health Equity and the California Future Health Workforce Commission. She is also a UC Berkeley Foundation trustee. Her leadership is highlighted in Jim Collins' B.E. 2.0 and was recognized by the Bay Area Business Council when she was inducted into the Business Hall of Fame. Anne earned her B.A. from UC Berkeley, graduating with honors and the Kenneth Priestly Award for leadership.
